What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury bed mattress under three brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils provide the Saatva Classic a good amount of bounce near the top, and a plush top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Business’s mattresses, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box.
Factors to consider: Sleepjudge Saatva
The Saatva’s comfort system uses thinner layers of foam than numerous hybrid designs. These thinner layers of foam combined with the Euro-top’s fiber fill soak up some motion, reducing how much movement is felt across the surface area of the bed. Sleepers may still experience some motion transfer when their partner modifications position or gets up throughout the night due to the bed mattress’s 2 layers of springs. Thanks to its softer feel, the Plush Soft version of the Saatva absorbs somewhat more movement than the Luxury Firm and Firm choices. While all of the Saatva firmness choices have pressure-relieving potential, the quantity of pressure relief that a private experiences on the mattress will differ based partly on their weight and sleep position. Individuals who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most pressure relief on the Plush Soft variation of the mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the very best balance of contouring and support from the Company variation.
Note: Saatva recently updated the Zenhaven, changing the kind of latex utilized in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the distinctions listed below. We plan to check the brand-new variation soon and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The all-foam Zenhaven consists primarily of latex, which is intrinsically long lasting. The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Company side feels a bit firmer), which might show helpful if you’re not sure what you choose or if your requirements alter over time. This is not a traditionally cushy bed mattress, however it uses a supple cushion, great edge support, and a subtle springiness. Offered its natural sturdiness, the Zenhaven must work well for individuals who weigh more than 200 pounds.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for a number of weeks in my own home. These bed mattress were also examined in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam mattresses and the finest innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel author for sleep, I’ve interviewed ratings of professionals in the mattress industry and in materials science; checked out dozens of bed mattress stores, display rooms, and factories; and read the small print on requirements, guarantees, and return policies. Most recently, monitoring editor Courtney Schley examined the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for a number of weeks.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brand names. We do understand that the company utilizes thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and only organic cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress companies, Saatva touts such bonus as zoned layers for “ideal spinal column support”; we’re less pleased with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer support and resilient foams and coils.
