What mattress is better than Saatva?
Established in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end mattresses under three brand name names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic a great amount of bounce near the top, and a plush top adds softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

Keep in mind: Saatva just recently updated the Zenhaven, altering the kind of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the differences below. We plan to test the brand-new variation soon and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which might show handy if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your needs alter over time. This is not a traditionally cushy bed mattress, but it offers a supple cushion, good edge support, and a subtle springiness.
For this review, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for several weeks in my own house. These mattresses were also evaluated in our group tests performed for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam bed mattress and the finest innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel author for sleep, I’ve talked to scores of specialists in the mattress industry and in materials science; visited lots of bed mattress factories, shops, and display rooms; and pored over the fine print on specifications, guarantees, and return policies. Most recently, monitoring editor Courtney Schley assessed the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for a number of weeks.

Saatva Youth ( a foam-coil hybrid for kids ages 3 through 12).
We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brands. We do understand that the business utilizes thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and just organic cotton (instead of artificial blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva promotes such additionals as zoned layers for “ideal spinal column support”; we’re less amazed with those functions and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer care and durable foams and coils.
