What mattress is better than Saatva?
Established in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury mattresses under three brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic an excellent amount of bounce near the top, and a plush top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Business’s mattresses, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

Note: Saatva just recently updated the Zenhaven, changing the kind of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the distinctions below. We prepare to test the brand-new variation soon and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which may show practical if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your requirements change over time. This is not a conventionally soft bed mattress, however it offers a supple cushion, excellent edge support, and a subtle springiness.
For this review, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for several weeks in my own house. These mattresses were also assessed in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam mattresses and the best innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel author for sleep, I have actually talked to scores of professionals in the bed mattress industry and in products science; gone to lots of mattress showrooms, factories, and stores; and pored over the small print on specs, guarantees, and return policies. Most recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley assessed the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for several weeks.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brands. We do understand that the company utilizes thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and only natural cotton (instead of artificial blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva touts such extras as zoned layers for “optimum spinal column support”; we’re less pleased with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer support and resilient foams and coils.
