What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury mattresses under three brand name names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic a good quantity of bounce near the top, and a plush top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s mattresses, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box.

Keep in mind: Saatva just recently updated the Zenhaven, changing the kind of latex utilized in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the differences listed below. We prepare to test the brand-new version soon and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The all-foam Zenhaven consists mostly of latex, which is intrinsically resilient. The Zenhaven is also flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which may prove helpful if you’re not exactly sure what you prefer or if your needs alter with time. This is not a conventionally soft bed mattress, but it offers a supple cushion, excellent edge assistance, and a subtle springiness. Provided its inherent toughness, the Zenhaven should work well for people who weigh more than 200 pounds.
For this review, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven mattresses for numerous weeks in my own home. These mattresses were likewise evaluated in our group tests carried out for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam bed mattress and the best innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel writer for sleep, I’ve interviewed scores of professionals in the mattress market and in materials science; visited dozens of mattress showrooms, factories, and stores; and pored over the small print on specifications, warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley assessed the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her house for a number of weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brand names. We do understand that the company utilizes thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to chemicals or fiberglass) and just natural cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress companies, Saatva promotes such additionals as zoned layers for “optimum spinal column assistance”; we’re less satisfied with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer support and durable foams and coils.
