What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva focuses on direct-to-consumer luxury mattresses under 3 brand: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Suitable for: Individuals with more particular firmness preferences Sleepers of any size and sleep position Those who tend to sleep hot Couples looking for a combination of pressure relief and bounce A lot of online mattresses are foams or hybrids, so the Saatva Classic sticks out. It’s one of the few innerspring bed mattress you can conveniently purchase online. Pocketed coils give the Saatva Classic a good quantity of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top adds softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box. Saatva likewise uses a generous 180-day trial duration and simple returns.

The Saatva’s comfort system uses thinner layers of foam than lots of hybrid designs. These thinner layers of foam integrated with the Euro-top’s fiber fill soak up some movement, reducing how much movement is felt throughout the surface area of the bed. Sleepers might still experience some movement transfer when their partner changes position or gets up throughout the night due to the mattress’s 2 layers of springs. Thanks to its softer feel, the Plush Soft version of the Saatva takes in a little more movement than the Luxury Company and Company options. While all of the Saatva firmness choices have pressure-relieving potential, the quantity of pressure relief that a specific experiences on the bed mattress will vary based partially on their weight and sleep position. People who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most press relief on the Luxurious Soft variation of the bed mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the best balance of contouring and support from the Firm version.
Note: Saatva just recently updated the Zenhaven, changing the kind of latex utilized in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; find out more about the distinctions below. We plan to evaluate the brand-new version soon and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is also flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Firm side feels a bit firmer), which might show helpful if you’re not sure what you choose or if your requirements change over time. This is not a conventionally soft bed mattress, but it offers a flexible cushion, good edge support, and a subtle springiness.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for a number of weeks in my own home. These bed mattress were also examined in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam bed mattress and the best innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior staff author for sleep, I have actually interviewed scores of professionals in the bed mattress market and in materials science; gone to dozens of mattress stores, showrooms, and factories; and pored over the small print on specs, service warranties, and return policies. Most recently, monitoring editor Courtney Schley examined the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her house for a number of weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brand names. We do understand that the company utilizes thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to chemicals or fiberglass) and just organic cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress companies, Saatva touts such bonus as zoned layers for “optimum spine support”; we’re less amazed with those functions and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive client service and long lasting foams and coils.
