What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury mattresses under 3 brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils give the Saatva Classic a great quantity of bounce near the top, and a plush top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Business’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

The Saatva’s comfort system utilizes thinner layers of foam than many hybrid models. These thinner layers of foam integrated with the Euro-top’s fiber fill absorb some movement, lowering how much movement is felt across the surface of the bed. Sleepers may still experience some movement transfer when their partner changes position or gets up during the night due to the mattress’s 2 layers of springs. Thanks to its softer feel, the Plush Soft version of the Saatva absorbs a little more movement than the High-end Company and Firm alternatives. While all of the Saatva firmness alternatives have pressure-relieving capacity, the amount of pressure relief that a private experiences on the mattress will vary based partly on their weight and sleep position. People who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most press relief on the Luxurious Soft version of the mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the very best balance of contouring and assistance from the Firm version.
Note: Saatva recently upgraded the Zenhaven, changing the type of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the distinctions below. We plan to check the brand-new version quickly and will update this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which might show helpful if you’re not sure what you choose or if your requirements alter over time. This is not a conventionally soft mattress, however it offers a supple cushion, great edge assistance, and a subtle springiness.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven mattresses for a number of weeks in my own home. These mattresses were likewise examined in our group tests carried out for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam bed mattress and the best innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior staff writer for sleep, I’ve talked to scores of experts in the mattress market and in products science; gone to dozens of bed mattress shops, factories, and showrooms; and read the fine print on specifications, guarantees, and return policies. Most recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley assessed the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for several weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brands. However we do understand that the company utilizes thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and only organic cotton (instead of artificial blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva promotes such additionals as zoned layers for “ideal spine assistance”; we’re less amazed with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive client service and resilient foams and coils.
