What mattress is better than Saatva?
Established in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury bed mattress under three brand name names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic a good quantity of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

The Saatva’s comfort system uses thinner layers of foam than lots of hybrid models. These thinner layers of foam integrated with the Euro-top’s fiber fill take in some movement, reducing how much movement is felt across the surface area of the bed. Sleepers may still experience some movement transfer when their partner changes position or gets up during the night due to the mattress’s 2 layers of springs.Thanks to its softer feel, the Plush Soft variation of the Saatva takes in somewhat more motion than the High-end Firm and Company options.While all of the Saatva firmness alternatives have pressure-relieving potential, the amount of pressure relief that an individual experiences on the mattress will differ based partially on their weight and sleep position. People who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most press relief on the Plush Soft variation of the bed mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the very best balance of contouring and assistance from the Firm variation.
Note: Saatva just recently updated the Zenhaven, changing the type of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; learn more about the distinctions listed below. The all-foam Zenhaven consists mostly of latex, which is fundamentally long lasting. The Zenhaven is likewise flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which may prove helpful if you’re uncertain what you prefer or if your requirements alter in time. This is not a traditionally cushy bed mattress, but it provides a supple cushion, great edge support, and a subtle springiness. Provided its natural durability, the Zenhaven needs to work well for people who weigh more than 200 pounds.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for a number of weeks in my own home. These bed mattress were also evaluated in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam mattresses and the finest innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior staff author for sleep, I’ve interviewed ratings of experts in the bed mattress industry and in products science; visited lots of bed mattress shops, factories, and display rooms; and read the small print on specs, warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley examined the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her house for numerous weeks.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brands. However we do know that the business uses thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (instead of fiberglass or chemicals) and only organic cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress business, Saatva promotes such additionals as zoned layers for “optimal spine support”; we’re less amazed with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer service and long lasting foams and coils.
