What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury bed mattress under three brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils provide the Saatva Classic a good quantity of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s mattresses, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box.

People who are easily awoken when their partner stirs might discover the Saatva transfers more movement than perfect Individuals who like the hug of memory foam might not feel the Saatva conforms closely sufficient The Saatva’s comfort system uses thinner layers of foam than lots of hybrid models. While all of the Saatva firmness choices have pressure-relieving capacity, the quantity of pressure relief that an individual experiences on the mattress will vary based partly on their weight and sleep position. Individuals who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most push relief on the Plush Soft version of the bed mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the best balance of contouring and support from the Company version.
Keep in mind: Saatva recently updated the Zenhaven, changing the type of latex utilized in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the distinctions below. We plan to check the new variation soon and will update this guide with our impressions.
The all-foam Zenhaven consists primarily of latex, which is inherently durable. The Zenhaven is likewise flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Company side feels a bit firmer), which may show practical if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your needs change gradually. This is not a traditionally cushy bed mattress, but it provides a flexible cushion, excellent edge assistance, and a subtle springiness. Given its inherent toughness, the Zenhaven should work well for individuals who weigh more than 200 pounds.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven mattresses for several weeks in my own house. These bed mattress were also assessed in our group tests carried out for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam bed mattress and the best innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior staff writer for sleep, I’ve spoken with ratings of specialists in the mattress industry and in products science; checked out dozens of bed mattress stores, display rooms, and factories; and read the small print on specs, guarantees, and return policies. Most recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley examined the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her house for a number of weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brands. We do understand that the business uses thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to chemicals or fiberglass) and only organic cotton (instead of artificial blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress companies, Saatva touts such extras as zoned layers for “optimal spinal column support”; we’re less pleased with those functions and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer care and resilient foams and coils.
