What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury bed mattress under three brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils provide the Saatva Classic an excellent quantity of bounce near the top, and a plush top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Business’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box.

While all of the Saatva firmness options have pressure-relieving capacity, the quantity of pressure relief that a private experiences on the bed mattress will differ based partly on their weight and sleep position. Note: Saatva recently upgraded the Zenhaven, changing the kind of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the differences below. We plan to evaluate the new variation quickly and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is likewise flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Firm side feels a bit firmer), which may prove practical if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your needs change over time. This is not a conventionally cushy mattress, but it offers a supple cushion, great edge support, and a subtle springiness.
For this review, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for several weeks in my own home. These bed mattress were also examined in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam mattresses and the best innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel writer for sleep, I’ve interviewed ratings of professionals in the mattress market and in products science; checked out lots of bed mattress factories, stores, and showrooms; and pored over the small print on specs, guarantees, and return policies. Most recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley evaluated the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her house for a number of weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brand names. However we do know that the business uses thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (instead of fiberglass or chemicals) and just organic cotton (instead of artificial blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress companies, Saatva touts such extras as zoned layers for “optimal spine assistance”; we’re less pleased with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer service and resilient foams and coils.
