What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury bed mattress under three brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils provide the Saatva Classic a good amount of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Business’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

Note: Saatva just recently updated the Zenhaven, changing the type of latex utilized in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; learn more about the distinctions below. We plan to evaluate the new variation soon and will update this guide with our impressions.
The all-foam Zenhaven consists primarily of latex, which is intrinsically durable. The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which may prove helpful if you’re uncertain what you choose or if your requirements change in time. This is not a traditionally soft bed mattress, but it uses a flexible cushion, great edge assistance, and a subtle springiness. Offered its natural resilience, the Zenhaven must work well for individuals who weigh more than 200 pounds.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for a number of weeks in my own home. These bed mattress were also examined in our group tests performed for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam mattresses and the best innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior staff writer for sleep, I have actually interviewed ratings of experts in the mattress industry and in materials science; gone to dozens of mattress factories, stores, and display rooms; and read the small print on requirements, warranties, and return policies. Most recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley assessed the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for several weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brand names. We do understand that the business utilizes thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to chemicals or fiberglass) and just natural cotton (rather of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva touts such additionals as zoned layers for “optimal spine assistance”; we’re less satisfied with those functions and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive client service and long lasting foams and coils.
