What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury mattresses under 3 brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils provide the Saatva Classic an excellent quantity of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box.

Keep in mind: Saatva just recently upgraded the Zenhaven, changing the type of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; learn more about the distinctions listed below. We plan to check the new version soon and will update this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Company side feels a bit firmer), which may prove practical if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your requirements alter over time. For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for a number of weeks in my own house. These mattresses were likewise assessed in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam mattresses and the best innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel writer for sleep, I’ve talked to scores of specialists in the bed mattress industry and in products science; gone to lots of bed mattress factories, display rooms, and stores; and pored over the fine print on specs, warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, monitoring editor Courtney Schley examined the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for several weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brand names. We do understand that the company uses thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and only organic cotton (rather of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva touts such additionals as zoned layers for “optimum spinal column assistance”; we’re less pleased with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer care and long lasting foams and coils.
