What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury mattresses under 3 brand: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Between these 3 brands, the business offers a number of mattress models, including the all-foam Loom & Leaf;& Leaf; the latex Zenhaven; the airbed, Solaire; and the hybrid Saatva. Ideal for: People with more specific firmness choices Sleepers of any size and sleep position Those who tend to sleep hot Couples looking for a combination of pressure relief and bounce Most online mattresses are hybrids or foams, so the Saatva Classic stands apart. It’s one of the few innerspring bed mattress you can conveniently purchase online. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic a good quantity of bounce near the top, and a plush top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Business’s mattresses, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box. Saatva likewise offers a generous 180-day trial period and simple returns.

Individuals who are easily awoken when their partner stirs might find the Saatva transfers more motion than perfect People who like the hug of memory foam might not feel the Saatva conforms carefully adequate The Saatva’s convenience system uses thinner layers of foam than lots of hybrid designs. Note: Saatva just recently upgraded the Zenhaven, altering the type of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; learn more about the differences below. We prepare to test the new version quickly and will update this guide with our impressions.
The all-foam Zenhaven consists mostly of latex, which is fundamentally resilient. The Zenhaven is also flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Firm side feels a bit firmer), which may show handy if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your requirements change over time. This is not a conventionally cushy mattress, but it offers a flexible cushion, good edge assistance, and a subtle springiness. Given its inherent toughness, the Zenhaven needs to work well for people who weigh more than 200 pounds.
For this review, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven mattresses for several weeks in my own house. These mattresses were also examined in our group tests performed for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam bed mattress and the best innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel author for sleep, I’ve interviewed scores of experts in the bed mattress market and in materials science; checked out dozens of bed mattress factories, shops, and showrooms; and pored over the small print on requirements, warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley evaluated the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for a number of weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brands. We do know that the company uses thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to chemicals or fiberglass) and only natural cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress business, Saatva touts such additionals as zoned layers for “ideal spine support”; we’re less satisfied with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer care and durable foams and coils.
